AI Labs

  • Anthropic: Anthropic, the maker of Claude, has opened a Sydney office, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Australian Government, and is reported to be seeking at least 1.4GW of Australian data centre capacity. (Sydney office open since April 2026, fourth APAC office)
  • OpenAI: OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, has launched OpenAI for Australia and signed an MoU with NEXTDC to develop an Australian Stargate AI data centre in Sydney. (NEXTDC S7 Stargate plan about AU$7bn)
